Bilingual Couples in Conversation
This book provides a detailed linguistic analysis of the communication of ten highly proficient bilingual couples, consisting of a Swiss and an English-speaking partner. It sheds light on various areas of their language use, e.g. their language choice, their language mixing behaviour, their manner of expressing emotions, their use of and reaction to swearwords, their attitudes and their humour and laughter.
Silja Ang-Tschachtli has a PhD in English Linguistics from the University of Zurich and teaches English at a Swiss grammar school.
