L’auriga dal breve destino

In line with the ever-increasing attention given to fragmentary texts in the field of classical theatre studies, Silvia Onori's volume presents a new critical-exegetical commentary on Euripides' Phaethon. Based on the text edited by Richard Kannicht, alongside each fragment we find a full list of bibliographical references, an analysis of the context of the quotation, an Italian translation, and an exegetical commentary. The introduction presents the sources for every fragment, a possible reconstruction of the drama, a hypothesis on its origin and the significance of the myth from its tragic origins. The volume is completed by an appendix on the modern and contemporary revision of the myth. In linea con l'attenzione sempre crescente riservata, nel campo degli studi sul teatro classico, ai testi frammentari, il volume di Silvia Onori presenta un nuovo commento critico-esegetico al Fetonte euripideo: a partire dal testo edito da Richard Kannicht, ogni frammento è corredato da un quadro completo dei riferimenti bibliografici, un'analisi del contesto di citazione, una traduzione italiana e un commento esegetico. L'introduzione presenta i testimoni dei frammenti, una ricostruzione verosimile del dramma, un'ipotesi di datazione e indaga la fortuna del mito nel mondo antico. Completa il volume un'appendice sulla ricezione moderna della leggenda.
