It broke in half with a satisfying snap. "You haven't told me what you're doing," Phil said. Donna ignored him, stooped to take hold of the now-unbraced leg and straightened up, pulling with all her strength. KRRUNCHH! She twisted and wrenched to loosen the wooden baton. Her eyes narrowed, she gripped the base with both hands and raised it like a club. "Payback time," she said.
